Fly
Fishing:
If you’re a fly fishing fanatic like me, this is heaven on
earth. Where else can you throw at Tarpon, Snook and Redfish all
in the same day and actually have them eat. These fish are not
as pressured as some other areas and they love to eat your fly.
Bring your own equipment if you would like but if you don’t want
to travel with your rods, I use G Loomis rods and Ross Fly Reels
with Wulff Triangle Taper lines. We’ll do what you like.
Plug or Jig
Fishing:
same as above, only with a spinning or baitcaster. I use G
Loomis rods and Shimano reels with Power Pro Braided line. We
will throw anything from topwaters to soft plastic jerk baits.
This is a lot like bass fishing except that these fish would eat
a bass for dinner and still be hungry.
Be sure to take some
time before your trip and practice a little, this is tight
quarter, target fishing, the more accurate you are with your
casting, the better time you’ll have, I promise.
Tarpon Fishing:
This is the premiere fish in Florida. The prime time to come and
fish for these magnificent creatures (50-150 lbs) is March
through July and the rest of the year for smaller ones
(5-50lbs).
Snook Fishing:
This is our year round go to fish. We can catch Snook everyday
of the year but the summer time is the best time to find large
numbers of fish on the beachfront and larger females congregated
around the passes. Snook can always be found cruising the flats,
some small and some large but they are all great regardless of
size. And these fish eat, some takes will actually scare you!
Redfish:
Hard fighting and always hungry, these shallow water fish are
brutes. Whether tailing or cruising with their back out of the
water, these fish are awesome. The best time to fish for Redfish
is in the Fall or Winter but they are here year round. |
